Ter Maat is an economist and police officer in Broward County and offers a fresh approach to District 20, which has been adversely affected by poor government policies for decades. There is a special election happening on January 11, 2022, to fill the vacancy left by Alcee Hastings, who died on April 6, 2021. LP Palm Beach has reviewed all 12 candidates running and found ter Maat’s policies to be the best for the residents of District 20. Ter Maat is looking to improve the district’s education direction from Washington as it has been going in the wrong direction for too long. In addition, ter Maat’s unique position as a police officer brings in a fresh perspective regarding justice reform, which has been lacking and ignored by the previous congressional representative. Mike ter Maat has said, “If you are no longer satisfied with Democratic politicians protecting bad schools and hanging to the tried-and-failed 1960s welfare programs that discourage work, if you are no longer satisfied with Republican politicians acting like it’s all your own fault, you might be a Libertarian. If you’re looking for a fresh new approach to protecting your liberty, an equal shot in a growing economy, and an equal shot at justice, you’re not just a Libertarian, you’re a part of this campaign.” Those living in District 20 will need to be registered to vote by December 13, 2021, if they plan to vote in the January 11, 2022 election. #####
